Close-Up Magic

Close-up magic is the most intimate and powerful of the many forms of magic. Whether it is performed seated or standing, close-up magic takes place inches away from the spectators -- often in their own hands.

Jack Skrip has gained a reputation for providing engaging, high-impact, close-up magic that can be customized for a variety of venues and audiences.

Jack's close-up performance can involve everyday objects such as cards, coins, keys, rubber bands, finger rings, etc. But, most importantly, it involves people. The spectators are within an arm's length of the magician and interact directly with him. As well, much of the magic emphasizes participation, with multiple spectators interacting with each other.

Here are a few of the options available for performances of close-up magic:

Table Hopping: The magician travels from table to table and performs a set of effects ranging from three to ten minutes in length, depending on the number of people at the table and the nature of the event as a whole. The magician usually works while standing and sometimes uses the tabletop as a staging area.

Strolling Magic: The magician wanders freely among the guests at an indoor or outdoor activities such as cocktail hours, casino nights, private parties, or festivals. Performed for 1-3 people at a time, the magic is usually done in-hands and does not require a table.

Cabaret or Parlour Magic: The magician performs from a fixed location, either seated or standing. A cabaret-style standing performance could take place in a small banquet room or a trade show booth. A seated performance can take place at the dining table during a private dinner party or the head table in a convention hall. Ask about our "Casino Close-Up" option!
